Product out of productionA world famous hospital discovered their usual supplier couldn't source stock of one of their commonly used products. They had then contacted several other suppliers who couldn't find a solution and Pharmarama was their last hope.
After contacting our vast pool of suppliers, we confirmed that the product had been discontinued from the only country it was marketed in. Rather than stop the search there, we decided to investigate alternative solutions and asked our suppliers if they were aware of a similar product. Two of our suppliers came forward to make us aware of a product that had a similar profile and provided us with the relevant paperwork from the manufacturer.
Our Quality Assurance department then examined the SPC to ascertain a) the product was identical or almost the same, b) the product fulfilled ours and the MHRA's quality standards. After this fulfilled our criteria we then passed this plus the TSE statement and Certificate of Analysis onto the hospital's own Quality Assurance team who then approved it and allowed the pharmacy to place an order.
Our customer made us aware that they had been searching for this product for months and had a backlog of patients to supply. They fed back to us that they were impressed with our customer service especially, that we had kept them regularly informed during each stage. They were also very impressed that the product we had found was actually 40% cheaper than the one they had used previously.
Subsequently we discovered that other hospitals also had the same issue with this product and we were able to import further supplies to fulfil their requirements.
